What is Sin?

I will bless the Lord at all times.  His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Someone asked a question about sin- what is sin?

In an age where everything goes and individuals want to do what they want to do the way they want to regardless of..; defining sin can be a challenge.

Some feel if the Bible does not specifically name something as sin, then it is not sin.  Not so.  Answering a question like this requires Bible study and prayer to get an understanding.  Most will get Offended when an attempt is made to define sin.  Causing offence has always been part of preaching and teaching the Good News.  Jesus offended many with the truth.  Jesus made many angry and made many enemies.

But one thing for sure, the Lord God requires holiness.  For He said without it, no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

Here is some of what the scriptures say regarding sin.

I Corinthians 6:18 "Flee fornication.  Every sin that a man doeth is withou tthe body; ut he that committeh fornication sinneth against his own body."

"All unrighteousness is sin:"- I John

Sin- that which is done wrong, an offence or violation of the divine law of God. Disobedient to the word of God.

Sin started in the garden of Eden in the Genesis.

Galatians 5:19-21 says, "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying's, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

There is much more.  I would admonish you to search it out.  For in the sight of God the wages of sin is still death, but the gift of God is eternal life.  To obtain the gift of eternal life, one must repent of their sin (disobedient to God), be baptized in the Name of Jesus for the remission of sin and then get filled with the Holy Ghost.

Search it out.
