In II Samuel chapter 15 the Word of God speaks to what happens when the heart is not kept.  King David's son was able to take the heart of the men of Israel from King David.  David knew that there was no way he could fight against the men if their heart was now with his son Absalom.

David commended those that were with him to flee 'lest he over take us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword'  II Sam. 15:14

So the question for those that profess to love the Lord, where is your heart?  Who controls it?  Who do you obey, God or men?  Whats in your heart?  Has something taken your heart away from the Lord?
